Alfalfa

The alfalfa genus (Medicago L.) includes about 50 species. Among them, alfalfa blue, yellow, variable have the greatest economic value. The most common, due to its high yield, is blue alfalfa (Medicago sativa).

Alfalfa is a very valuable perennial grass. Grows quickly after mowing. With proper agricultural technology, it gives high yields of green mass and hay, enriched with protein, vitamins and minerals. The high fodder value of alfalfa is combined with its high productivity. It grows quickly: 3-4 times during the growing season

Variety Nadiya

Belongs to the blue-hybrid group;

The bush is tall (52-97 cm), upright. Yield of green mass is about 700 t/ha, seeds 7.0-9.0 t/ha;

The variety is the national standard of Ukraine; Listed in the register of varieties of Ukraine since 1982.

The stable variety is oriented to the "effective level".

Listed in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 1999. Bred at the Poltava State Agricultural Research Station;

 In terms of fodder productivity, it is at the level of zoned varieties.

The yield of green mass is 558 t/ha, seeds – 4.1 t/ha.

Entered into the State Register of Ukraine since 1996;

Belongs to variable alfalfa, blue-hybrid group. Stems reach a height of 100-130 cm, corollas are blue-violet. Flowering is friendly, fruiting is good;

Green mass yield 435-500 t/ha, hay 110 t/ha, seeds 5-7 t/ha.

Variety Veselopodolyanska

The height is 56-110 cm, in conditions with sufficient moisture supply, the length reaches 150 cm and above, the stem is 1.0-1.4 mm thick, pubescent with short hairs. The average number of internodes is 20, the bush is sprawling. The first cut for hay in 61-80 days.

Yield: 2.5-5.6 t/ha. Entered into the State Register of Varieties of Ukraine and Kazakhstan in 1960.
